Purpose

Beautiful Sound seeks to create a community that understands the effects of sexual assault and how music can help heal those effects.

There are many misconceptions, misrepresentations, and misunderstandings about the actual effects of sexual assault in the general public that further reinforces many of the wounds survivors experience and make it more difficult for them to heal. Beautiful Sound seeks to share information with others in a way that is empowering to both the survivor and the larger community. As we more fully understand the effects of sexual assault, we can more fully heal ourselves and our communities.

Traditional psycho-therapy seems to have a one-sided approach to healing sexual assault, mainly focusing on the mental and behavioral effects. However, as we discover there are so many other effects that hinder survivors spiritually, physically, and social-emotionally, we realize that healing must include those other areas of being as well. Beautiful Sound seeks to show how involvement in music can heal many of those other areas as well.
